1 ½ cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 cups all-purpose flour
Cream collectively butter and sugar in a giant bowl with an electric powered mixer till smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and kick back dough for at least 1 hour (or overnight).
Preheat oven to four hundredranges F (200 ranges C).
Lightly dirt a work floor with flour. Roll out dough to 1/4 to half of inch thickness. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch aside on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake in the preheated oven till cookies are gently browned, 6 to eight minutes. Carefully switch cookies to a wire rack and cool totallyearlier than decorating.
