Baked potato and meat pie is a simple recipe that anyone can make. It is similar to lasagne, but instead of using pasta, mashed potato is used to prepare it. It is a fairly quick dish, which offers many possibilities. For example, if we know that we are not going to have much time at lunchtime, we can leave both the mashed potato and the filling prepared the day before.
Ingredients for cooking potato pie
For the mashed potatoes:
800 grams of potatoes
For the filling:
500 grams of minced beef
2 cloves of garlic
150 millilitres of white wine
100 grams of fried tomato
100 grams of gratin cheese
70 millilitres of extra virgin olive oil

How to cook the mashed potatoes
1- The first step in preparing the mince and mashed potato pie is to wash the potatoes well and boil them in their skins in plenty of water.
2- Cook for about 20 minutes, or until they are soft.
3- Remove and leave to cool so that they can be peeled. Then chop them and pass them through a potato masher.
4- Season the puree with salt and pepper and set aside.
To make the filling
1- Continue preparing the baked potato pie, now wash the garlic, onion and carrots, and cut everything into small pieces.
2- Put the oil in a frying pan and start by frying the garlic, then add the onion and carrots. Add salt and leave to cook for about 10 minutes.
3- Season the minced meat with salt and pepper and add it to the frying pan when the time has elapsed.
4- Fry the meat over a high heat, without burning it, but making sure it does not cook rather than fry.
5- When the meat is ready, add the wine and let it evaporate for about 10 minutes to reduce the wine.
6- Then add the tomato and mix well. Cook for a further 5 minutes.
For the potato and mince pie
1- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
2- In an ovenproof dish, place layers, starting with the meat and finishing with a layer of mashed potato.
3- Sprinkle the grated cheese on top and bake the potato and meat pie in the oven for 10 minutes.
4- Then turn on the grill and leave to brown for a further 5 minutes.
5- Let it rest and all we have to do is enjoy our potato pie, we are going to love it.
