They don’t mind this beautiful legend, but they have their own opinion. They say Ruth was a talented baker and there was simply no way she could have had anything missing from her kitchen. She added the chocolate chips for a reason. So, she did it deliberately. Ruth herself is said to have let it slip and told people close to her. Anyway, the biscuits have become a classic, and not only in the USA.
Now on to baking, and before that, some important tips:
To make the perfect biscuit
Use butter, not margarine. This will give you a loose and delicate texture.
Do not use bar chocolate, but use chunky chocolate. They have a more pronounced and fuller flavour
Recipe for American Chocolate Chip Cookies
Cooking time: 30 minutes dough preparation, 60 minutes cooling, 20 minutes baking
Ingredients:
- eggs – 2 pcs.
- butter – 200 g
- white sugar – 155 g
- cane sugar – 155 g
- flour – 500 g
- fine salt, baking soda, hot water – 1 tsp each
- vanilla sugar – 5 g
- dark chocolate – 100 gr or to taste
How to make:
Mix the two sugars well with the melted butter.
Add the eggs while stirring thoroughly. Add the second egg when the first has dissolved.
Add the vanillin, then the salt dissolved in 1 tsp hot water.
Add the baking soda and gradually stir in the flour. Bring to a smooth consistency and leave for 15 minutes.
Chop the chocolate with a knife and add to the dough.
Make rounded biscuits. They should look like small meatballs.
Place on parchment paper on a baking tray. Leave at least 5 cm.
Leave in the refrigerator for 60 minutes.
Bake at 180° C in preheated oven for 20 minutes.
