French Toast I

There are many, fancy variants on this simple recipe. This recipe works with many kinds of bread – white, entire wheat, cinnamon-raisin, Italian or French. Serve warm with butter or margarine and maple syrup.


6 thick slices bread
2 eggs

⅔ cup milk
¼ teaspoon floor cinnamon (Optional)


¼ teaspoon floor nutmeg (Optional)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (Optional)

salt to taste

Step 1
Beat collectively egg, milk, salt, preferred spices and vanilla.


Step 2
Heat a gently oiled griddle or skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 3
Dunk every slice of bread in egg mixture, soaking each sides. Place in pan, and cook dinner on each facets till golden. Serve hot.
